**BD Phoenix M50 Automated Microbiology System:-

*Build y our future lab with BD Phoenix M50:-

  • The BD Phoenix M50 carousel holds 52 panel holders in two tiers. Each tier holds one normalizer (reference) panel and 25 sample panels. A total of 50 test panels can be loaded on the system at a time.
  • The BD Phoenix M50 ID tests are modifications of the classical methods of biochemical identification. These include tests for fermentation, oxidation, degradation and hydrolysis of various TM substrates. In addition to these, the Phoenix M50 system utilizes chromogenic and fluorogenic substrates as single carbon source substrates in the identification of organisms.
  • The BD Phoenix M50 AST test is a modified miniaturized version of the micro-broth TM doubling dilution technique. The Phoenix M50 panel is available in three formats: ID only, AST only, and combination ID/AST testing. The “pour and seal” serpentine design is optimized for safety and lea resistance
  • The BD Phoenix M50 combination panel includes an ID side with dried substrates for bacterial identification and an AST side with varying concentrations for antimicrobial agents, growth and fluorescent controls at appropriate well locations.
  • The instrument tests panels every 20 minutes for up to 16 hours if necessary.

**BD Phoenix M50 :-

  •  Panel Inoculation
  1. Open panel package:-INOCULATE WITHIN2 HOURS.
  2. Prepare Phoenix™ ID Broth:-Inoculate panel with prepared ID Broth within (<_) 60 MINUTES.
  • Add organism to ID Broth.
  • Vortex. Make .50 – .60 McFarland (standard inoculum).
  • Make .20 – .30 McFarland (low inoculum)

3.  Prepare Phoenix™ AST or AST-S Broth:-Inoculate panel with prepared broth within (<_) 30 MINUTES.

  • Add one free falling drop of AST or AST-S Indicator*** into AST or AST-S Broth. Tube can be used for up to 2 hours if exposed to light or up to 8 hours in the dark. Mix by inverting
  • Add 25 micro prepared ID Broth (standard inoculum)
  • Add 50 micro prepared ID Broth (low inoculum)

4. After panel inoculation, place closure securely on the panel to seal:-Prepare Purity Plate. Using a sterile loop, recover a small drop from the inoculum laid either before or after inoculating the panel. Inoculate on agar plate (any appropriate medium) for purity check. Incubate plates for 18-24 h at 35°C under appropriate conditions.

5. Load panel(s) into BD Phoenix instrument within after inoculation. (<_) 30 MINUTES
